Around Green Bottom

Green Bottom in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire is a small hamlet in a rural setting with easy access to motorways and many cities and beauty spots: we liked the area so much, we bought the cottage which is available as a holiday let! The Forest of Dean is itself a retreat from modern life and the hamlet of Green Bottom is a retreat within a retreat - so an ideal holiday spot.

Location

Green Bottom is 2 kM north east of Cinderford, in the Forest of Dean. Click on the link to see StreetMap's Map of Green Bottom

Local amenities can be found in the nearby villages of Littledean and Mitcheldean including village shops, primary and secondary schools, churches, public houses and garages.

The town of Cinderford is a 2km walk away through mixed woodland, or 2 miles by road.

The area around Green Bottom

is wooded: Green bottom is essentially a clearing within the eastern edge of the Forest of Dean. So there are local walks straight from the cottage where you can walk your pets or, if you fancy a longer walk from the cottage there is plenty of choice without getting the car out! There are footpaths through the forestand footpaths through the fields towards the river Severn.

Easy access by car from Green Bottom

Not only is the area full of local interest but it is extremely convenient as a centre for visiting many areas of great interest, including a national park and several areas on Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB):
