Contents, this page
Our holiday cottage in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, has facilities like no other. It's furnished with comfortable, homely furniture which won't make you afraid to enjoy yourself for fear of damaging things!
As we use the cottage for our own holidays we are also working on it and getting things as we like then: facilities will then change and photos will be replaced. For example, the colour scheme is not entirely of our choosing!
So if there are things you would particularly like to be present, please make suggestions.
Green Bottom is a hamlet of some dozen houses set in what is effectively a clearing in the forest. There is a country road bypassing the hamlet, so the only traffic past the cottage is that of the residents.
Be warned though that there is no light polution here so you get the full blaze of starlight on a clear night! The bird song can be deafening! No pneumatic drills here - but the woodpeckers try their best to replace them!
The cottage is one side of the hamlet access lane and across this is the garage and main garden.
- Pet friendly
See separate page on a few pet-friendly walks. We wanted a cat-safe cottage for our own use and a major requirement was that it should not be on or near a significant road. The cottage qualifies fully!
The garden is split in two by the hamlet access lane but both parts are enclosed. There are cat flaps from the kitchen to the outside which can be unlocked. Most of the downstairs rooms have two-part stable-style doors so you can restrain your damp, muddy dog as you wish.

Living room 2

The stove in the second picture is not to be used as there is no flue liner and the flue is badly tarred up, so a potential fire hazard. We hope to get a new stove soon.
